This single Privacy Policy covers all three apps published under KOKORO RYO: KOKORO RYO (journal), Selo (timer) and Sorta (photo organiser). Where something applies to only one app, it is marked.
None of our apps collects, stores on our servers, transmits to us, or sells personal information.
We do not operate any server that receives your data, and none of the apps contains analytics,
advertising, or tracking code. Your data stays on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect personal information. We do not collect:
- Names or email addresses
- User accounts or passwords
- Journal entries, task names, timer sessions, or other content you create
- Photos, audio recordings, or files
- The contents of your photo library, your albums, or what Sorta finds when it analyses them
- Your music library or what you listen to
- Location information
- Calendar events or contacts
- Health or workout data
- Device identifiers for tracking, advertising identifiers
- Usage, behavioral or analytics data
None of the apps requires you to create an account.
2. Where Your Data Is Stored
KOKORO RYOEntries, photos, recordings, drawings, stickers, places, folders, tags, and plans are stored on your device.
SeloTask cards, plans, timer sessions (start time, duration, rounds, and the local date and time zone where the session was recorded), appearance choices, backgrounds and stickers are stored on your device.
SortaYour photos and videos stay in Apple's Photos library; Sorta does not copy them. Sorta stores only its own notes about them on your device: which photos are in its Trash, which you have already seen, how your books look and are arranged on the shelf, a record of each cleanup (date, number of photos and space freed) for statistics, and analysis results and thumbnails that can be rebuilt at any time. Sorta does not sync this data through iCloud.
If iCloud is turned on for an app, its data is also synced through your own private iCloud account
(Apple CloudKit and, for KOKORO RYO, iCloud key-value storage) so it can appear on your other devices. This applies to KOKORO RYO and Selo; Sorta has no iCloud sync of its own. In Selo, iCloud sync comes with the one-time purchase and can be switched off at any time. This data is stored by Apple under your Apple Account and is subject to Apple's privacy policy. We cannot access it.
When you export a KOKORO RYO backup or a Selo CSV of your sessions, the file goes only where you choose through the system Share sheet (for example, Files, AirDrop or Mail). It is not sent to us.
3. Apple System Services and Permissions
The apps use capabilities provided by Apple only when you use a feature that needs them, and only after you grant permission.
You can change these permissions at any time in the Settings app.

Photos and Camera
KOKORO RYOUsed when you take a photo or choose photos to add to an entry, or save an image to your library. Photos stay on your device and in your own iCloud.
SeloUsed only when you pick a photo as a card background or to cut out a sticker. Selo uses Apple's photo picker, so it receives only the photo you choose and never has access to the rest of your library. The subject is cut out on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
SortaSorta asks for access to your photo library because organising it is what the app does. It reads your photos and videos to show and analyse them, and changes your library only when you ask it to: marking a favourite, hiding a photo, adding photos to an album, creating, renaming or deleting an album, and deleting photos when you empty Sorta's Trash. If you give access to only some photos, Sorta works with just those. Photos are never sent to us.
Deleting photos Sorta
Putting a photo in Sorta's Trash only marks it inside Sorta; nothing is deleted yet, and you can restore it. When you empty the Trash, Sorta asks iOS to delete those photos, iOS asks you to confirm, and the photos move to the Recently Deleted album in Photos, where Apple keeps them for about 30 days before removing them for good. If you use iCloud Photos, the deletion applies to all your devices signed in to that Apple Account.
On-device photo analysis Sorta
Sorta finds similar and duplicate photos, screenshots, blurry shots and each photo's main colour using Apple's Vision framework on your device. When the system allows it — for example while your device is charging — this analysis continues in the background. The results are stored only on your device and are never sent to us. If a photo is stored only in iCloud Photos, Apple's Photos framework downloads it from your iCloud account: for analysis only over Wi-Fi, and when you open, play or share it, as needed.
Location KOKORO RYO
When you start a new entry, the app reads your location once to note where you were, and you can use your current location when setting a place for a plan. It does not track your location in the background. To turn coordinates into a readable place name, the coordinates are sent to Apple Maps. The place is saved with your entry on your device and in your own iCloud. We never receive it. Selo does not use location.
Location Sorta
Only if you allow it, Sorta reads your approximate location once when the app opens. It is used on your device for two things: to light the bookshelf with your local sunrise and sunset, and to let the record player favour photos taken near where you are. The location is kept in memory only, is never stored, and never leaves your device. It is not tracked in the background. Without it, Sorta uses a default day and plays photos at random. When you open a photo's details, the place where the photo was taken is turned into a readable name by Apple Maps.
Media & Apple Music Sorta
Only if you allow it, the record player on the bookshelf plays songs at random from your own Music library, using Apple's music player; music can keep playing in the background like any music app. Sorta remembers only the last song and position on your device so it can pick up where you left off. Your music library and listening are never sent to us.
Microphone and Speech Recognition KOKORO RYO
Used when you record audio or dictate text. Dictation and transcription are processed on your device when supported; otherwise audio may be processed by Apple's speech recognition service under Apple's privacy policy. Recordings and transcripts are not sent to us. Selo does not use the microphone.
Calendar KOKORO RYO
Used on the Plan page, only if you allow it, to show your calendar events and save changes you make to them. Calendar data stays in your device's calendar and is not sent to us.
Apple Health Selo
Only if you give a task card a Health workout type and allow access, Selo writes each finished session to Apple Health as a workout. Selo reads back only the workouts it wrote itself, to avoid writing duplicates and to add finished sessions that are missing from Health (for example, ones recorded on your other device); it does not read data from other apps, watches or devices. When you delete a session in Selo, or delete a task card together with its sessions, Selo also deletes the matching workouts it wrote to Health on that device. Health data is never sent to us, never used for advertising, and never shared. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Health.
Notifications
KOKORO RYOUsed for reminders you turn on, such as anniversary reminders.
SeloUsed to tell you when a round changes or a session ends while the app is in the background. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. Selo also silently receives iCloud change notifications from Apple so a second device can update itself; these carry no content for us.
Live Activity, sounds and speech Selo
The Lock Screen / Dynamic Island Live Activity shows the task name and time remaining, produced on your device. Cue sounds and spoken announcements use your device's built-in speech voices and play in the background only while a session is running; while one is playing, other audio such as music is briefly lowered. No audio is recorded.
Motion sensors
SeloSortaThe device's motion sensors are read live for decorative effects only — such as stickers that tilt with your phone, the moving sea behind Settings, and the floating balloons on the colour page. This needs no permission, and the readings are never stored or sent anywhere.
On-device language features KOKORO RYO
Features such as turning a sentence into a plan item use Apple's on-device language model. Processing happens on your device.
Sharing from other apps KOKORO RYO
If you use Share in another app to send photos, text, links, or audio to KOKORO RYO, those items are saved on your device and added to your journal. They are not sent to us.
4. Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Any of the apps may offer in-app purchases, including free trials. We do not receive your payment information. Your purchase status is checked with Apple on your device, and "Restore Purchases" uses your Apple Account.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
We do not use third-party advertising networks, analytics services, or tracking services. The only outside services involved are Apple's own (iCloud, iCloud Photos, Apple Maps, speech recognition, Health, Apple Music, App Store), under Apple's privacy policy.
6. Analytics and Tracking
None of the apps uses analytics or tracking technologies to monitor your behavior. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
If you have chosen in your device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and performance data. This is controlled by Apple and your device settings, not by the apps.
7. Children's Privacy
The apps are not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we collect no personal information, there is no account or data collection system intended for children.
8. Your Rights and Deleting Your Data
Your content is yours. You can view, edit and delete it at any time in the apps. Deleting an app removes its data from your device. To remove data synced through iCloud, delete it in the app while iCloud is on, or remove the app's data in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage. In Selo, sessions can be deleted one by one on a card's Data page; when you delete a task card you choose whether to keep its past sessions (so your totals stay intact) or delete them as well, along with its background and sticker images. Workouts written by Selo can also be deleted in the Health app. Selo can export all your sessions as a CSV file from Settings. Sorta's own data (Trash marks, book styles, statistics and analysis results) is removed when you delete the app; your photos and albums remain in Photos. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, deletion, objection) under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA; because we hold no personal data about you, we can honour them by pointing you to these controls, and you can always contact us below.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when necessary to reflect changes to the apps or applicable requirements. Any updated version will be published on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
